Is HP Pavilion 15 i5 good for gaming?

Balanced laptop for gaming, more office or school work, without high prices or attractive appearance. It's a clear screaming 'green keyboard' that really makes the HP Pavilion 15.6-inch gaming notebook more than just a normal mid-size computer. Sure, there are quite large rear vents, but otherwise, the chassis is quite good and all black, except for the light green hue of the HP logo on the cover. And if you want, HP turns the green keys to white and the laptop doesn't stand out much. At least not until you start playing.

Like the 2018 HP Pavilion Gaming, the current Pavilion Gaming notebook is a low-cost, relatively unusable PC for gaming and content creation, such as an office or schoolwork. The performance I've tested is good for both new and old games, but it's a laptop that can be used in many configurations, so performance depends on exactly what it has. Prices start at $ 770 on the HP website for the latest version of the laptop with the 4GB GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card from Nvidia, but I tried the $ 1,250 version with the more robust 6GB GTX 1660 Ti. Both run on the Intel Core i7-9750H processor and overall it's a good deal in terms of design, specifications, and performance, and HP offers some nice gaming options. Upgrade if you buy now.

To save some money at least in the beginning, you can throw away 8 GB of RAM and make a 256 GB SSD and rest on the Suppression Pavilion Gaming 15, which I tried for $ 900. You get two key components - a Core i7 CPU and a GTX 1660 Ti GPU - for less than $ 1,000. You can then release the bottom panel and add more memory and save it for yourself in the future. Modern computer games can run at 50GB or more, so a 256GB SSD doesn't go far.

However, if you have money to spend, you can go the other way and load it into 32GB of memory and hide the box with the two disks I have. You can also place the display on a 144Hz panel for better gaming performance than the 4K (instead of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels) display intended by the content creators. The basic display is fine for normal use, but the color seems muted and not very bright - a constant problem of cheap laptops. You can also use HDMI or USB-C ports for an external monitor if you are doing an interior design that is critical to color. The composition of the components on my laptop proved to be a very good performance for everyday work and entertainment. I shot Battlefield V, set high quality, ran several 1080p full-screen campaigns, and never dropped below 60 frames per second during the event. The case is similar to Far Cry 5, which reached 71 frames per second on the game's built-in benchmark. However, less demanding titles like Fortnite and older games like Titanfall 2 do not skip even when the highest detail is set.

However, any occurrence may damage the battery life. In our video streaming test, it took a respectable 6 hours and 22 minutes, but for normal use, you'll probably only get half. However, this only applies to gaming laptops.

Unlike competing Acer and Dell systems, there are no other gaming accessories, such as macro keys and software to control things like cooling and power plans or display information. To be honest, you can find details about your performance at the Xbox Game Bar, which opens by pressing the Windows and G keys and the laptop cools down well while playing (this is another time, for example, when you're in a meeting or watching a movie, you want more control).

Finally, HP puts together a well-balanced, relatively thin notebook for gaming and office or school work without the high cost and attractive appearance. However, if you are looking for many game-related features, there are many options for gaming laptops for less than $ 1,000.
